A woman has received a 21-year prison sentence for attempting to murder a woman who bore a striking resemblance to her with a poisoned cheesecake.

Viktoria Nasyrova, a 47-year-old resident of Sheepshead Bay, was sentenced to 21 years in jail for attempted murder, among other charges, in February. In 2016, Nasyrova brought a special dessert to Olga Tsvyk's Forest Hills home after traveling from Brooklyn to Queens to visit her. The two women shared several physical similarities, including their Russian language skills, dark hair, and complexions. However, Tsvyk fell ill after consuming the cheesecake that Nasyrova brought and lost consciousness. She remembered seeing Nasyrova walking around her room before passing out, according to Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz. The following day, Tsvyk was discovered in her bed with pills scattered around her body, as if she had attempted to take her life. She was subsequently hospitalized for treatment. When she returned home, she discovered that her passport, employment authorization card, gold ring, and other valuables were missing.

Prosecutors claimed that Nasyrova had laced the dessert with phenazepam, a powerful sedative. The residue was discovered in the container. The Drug Enforcement Administration discovered the same drug in the pills discovered near the victim on the floor. Nasyrova was convicted of a variety of offenses, including attempted murder in the second degree, attempted assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree, unlawful imprisonment in the first degree, and petit larceny. In a statement, Katz said,

"A ruthless and calculating con artist is going to prison for a long time for trying to murder her way to personal profit and gain. Thankfully, the victim survived the attack on her life, and we were able to deliver justice to her."
