IBT Night Market Generates Over P1 Million in Rental Fees and Supports Local Entrepreneurs' Economic Recovery In Zamboaga
The Integrated Bus Terminal (IBT), a major economic enterprise in the city, has generated more than P1 million in income from rental fees for the IBT Night Market in less than five months, according to Liza Jocson, the spokesperson of Mayor John Dalipe. In addition, the IBT has collected P1.88 million in parking fees from arriving buses and special parking for the night market from May 1, 2022, to April 11, 2023.
Jocson made it clear that the time covered by the P1,017,800 revenue from the IBT night market is from May 1, 2022, to April 11, 2023. She added that by assisting small business owners in their efforts to recover financially, they are also helping the local government raise money so that it can better fulfill the needs of the community. This collaboration is the epitome of a win-win situation.
The IBT Night Market was launched last year as one of Dalipe's initiatives to aid small entrepreneurs in recovering from the financial losses caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Additionally, other night markets have been established in various areas, such as Rizal Street in Zone 4 village, Baban Street in Baliwasan village, Juan S. Alano Street in Zone 4 village for vegetable vendors, and Mercado Street, also in Zone 4 village, for used clothing, shoes, and other items.
