K-Pop Star Moonbin of Astro Passes Away at 25, Industry Mourns Another Loss

Moonbin, a 25-year-old member of the K-pop band Astro, has passed away. On April 20th, his music label Fantagio confirmed his death, stating that he unexpectedly left this world the day before. Moonbin was found dead at his apartment in Seoul's Gangnam neighborhood on April 19th by his manager, who had visited the K-pop star's residence after being unable to contact him.

The South Korean entertainment business has lost a number of young performers recently, including actors Jung Chae-yul, K-pop singers Goo Hara, Sulli, Minwoo of the boy band 100%, and SHINee's lead singer Jonghyun. Moonbin's premature death is the most recent tragedy to strike the sector.

In a statement on its official Twitter page, Fantagio requested that people respect the privacy of Moonbin's family and "refrain from speculative and malicious reports." The agency also announced that the funeral would be held quietly, with only family, close friends, and agency colleagues in attendance. The label did not disclose the cause of Moonbin's death.
