Mayor Lucilo Bayron advocates for the designation of Puerto Princesa as a drug-free city.
Mayor Lucilo Bayron is pushing attempts to get Puerto Princesa legally designated drug-free, effectively ridding it of illegal activity, in an effort to secure the city's status as a haven for illegal substances.
Mayor Bayron declared on Monday that the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) fully supports the city's ambition, with the goal of earning this distinction set for somewhere between September and October of this year.
This ambition reflects a broader trend in local government, in accordance with the national war against the scourge of illegal drugs.
Our goal is to declare Puerto Princesa drug-free by September, but the latest deadline is October, Mayor Bayron said. "The deputy director general of PDEA paid me a courtesy visit, and they are lending significant support to our city's endeavor," he added.
Given the desired "drug-free" designation, a city or municipality shows that local law enforcement has successfully reduced or eliminated the presence of illegal substances, drug dealers, and drug users in the community. This classification is often obtained through a mix of thorough police documentation, active community participation, local government activities, and a confluence of additional contributing elements.
Notably, in July, Director Gil Castro's third Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing (ROCBDC) in Mimaropa formally proclaimed Barangay Mandaragat to be drug-cleared. Brgy., however. Both Tiniguiban and Brgy. Sta. Subject to the prompt completion of the necessary documentary requirements, which were required within a 30-day window, Monica was given a provisional drug-cleared status.
The PDEA has ordered that the necessary documents must be provided before certificates certifying their status as drug-cleared barangays can be issued.
A staggering 35 barangays in Puerto Princesa have brilliantly maintained their coveted status as drug-cleared, according to PDEA Mimaropa's report. The rigorous evaluation of these locations was followed by certificates attesting to the lack of PDEA IIS users with an active drug affiliation.
On the other hand, two barangays in Puerto Princesa City that have been deemed drug-cleared have been given a "Certificate of Identified Drug Personalities" by PDEA IIS.
After receiving a "Resolution of Active Drug Personalities," the relevant Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (BADACs) will have 60 days to deal with the people named in the CIDP. When this deadline passes without action being taken, the ROCBDC will issue a "Resolution for Revocation of Drug-Cleared Status."
In addition to these successes, the city's 11 honorable barangays have steadfastly maintained their valued drug-free status.
