New Tourist Rest Area Inaugurated at the heart of Mindanao
The Tourist Rest Area (TRA) in Mindanao is now operational, adding to the region's travel infrastructure. The TRA is strategically positioned to cater to tourists traveling to and from the municipalities of Manolo Fortich, Impasug-ong, Sumilao, and Libona in Bukidnon, and it offers a variety of facilities and amenities to enhance visitors' experiences.

The recently inaugurated TRA has various elements to ensure traveler comfort and ease. An information center, sanitary facilities, and a lactation room for breastfeeding mothers are among them. The facility also contains a lounge with charging outlets, where guests may unwind and charge their electronics. A dining space is also provided to meet the culinary needs of visitors. The pasalubong center, which proudly displays locally-made products from Bukidnon's Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), including coffee and beaded items, is the facility's feature.
The Department of Tourism (DOT) has been working hard to improve travel amenities around the country. They have broken ground on ten TRAs in diverse destinations over the last year, including Samal Island in Davao del Norte, the municipalities of Carcar, Carmen, Medellin (inaugurated in July), and Moalboal in Cebu, Dauis in Bohol, Pagudpud in Ilocos Norte, Roxas in Palawan, and Baguio City.
Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco has ambitious intentions for the future, indicating that fifteen more TRAs will be added to the DOT's roster this year. This project intends to improve the country's tourist infrastructure and improve the overall experience for both domestic and foreign visitors. With these improvements, Mindanao solidifies its status as an appealing and inviting tourism destination.
