Surigao del Sur Shaken by Magnitude 5.4 Earthquake, Confirms Phivolcs
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported a magnitude 5.4 earthquake in Surigao del Sur on Thursday morning.

According to Phivolcs director Teresito "Toto" Bacolcol, the quake struck at roughly 8:23 a.m. and originated about 77 kilometers southeast of Cagwait town in the same province.
According to Bacolcol, the tremor was tectonic in nature and had a 15-kilometer focus.
Residents in Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, reported Intensity 5, while those in Bislig felt Intensity 4, according to Bacolcol.
Bacolcol noted that the current seismic activity was unlikely to cause infrastructure damage or aftershocks.
