The order was issued on April 8, 2024, and Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin signed it on behalf of the President. Officers from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) carried out the directive on Thursday morning, despite opposition from Jubahib supporters and provincial government officials.

On Thursday, DILG-11 regional director Abdullah Matalam notified the local media that Vice Governor De Carlo Uy would serve as acting governor during the 60-day suspension.
