51 high-end vehicles confiscated in Pasig, BOC urges importers to abide by customs laws
Manila - The Bureau of Customs (BOC) reminded importers and dealers strongly on Thursday about the need for precise and fast adherence to the nation's customs laws and regulations. This follows the recent confiscation of 51 luxury cars displayed in a Pasig City shop.

Bienvenido Rubio, a BOC commissioner, highlighted that importers must "faithfully and promptly fulfill their duties" to make sure that there is a fair and ethical trading environment in the country. He emphasized that the BOC's key objectives are to safeguard the interests of the Filipino people, ensure the country's revenue, and maintain trade practices' openness.
The luxurious cars were confiscated on Wednesday due to the owners' failure to present proof of timely payment of duties and taxes. After obtaining a letter of authority from the BOC on July 4, the owners were given a 15-day grace period to comply before the seizure.
Unfortunately, the owners could only provide registration documents within the allotted time, which prompted the customs officials to take enforcement action. Currently, 28 of the 51 high-end automobiles that were seized have been shipped to the BOC Port of Manila.
To complete the move, the final 23 luxury vehicles are scheduled to happen soon. In order to create a level playing field for trade operations in the nation, the BOC seeks to protect the integrity of customs regulations and make sure that all importers and dealers obey the law. (PNA)
