Gaza, October 10, 2023 — The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, has strongly condemned recent remarks made by U.S. President Joe Biden, claiming that his words demonstrate a bias in support of the Israeli occupation despite continued aggression in the Gaza Strip and other Palestinian lands.

In a press release, Hamas criticized President Biden for attempting to downplay the Israeli government's activities, which it described as crimes and acts of terrorism against the Palestinian people. According to Hamas, President Biden's statement failed to acknowledge the purported killings carried out by Israeli occupation troops, which occurred in the plain face of the international community.

Hamas said that President Biden's speech featured political and legal mistakes, amounting to clear support for Israel's settler colonial expansion of the Middle East. The organization accused the US government of providing cover for Israel to continue its claimed aggressions, including "massacres" against vulnerable populations such as women, children, and the elderly, as well as the use of collective punishment in Gaza.

Hamas reaffirmed its identity as a national liberation movement against colonial occupation, claiming that its objective is to protect the Palestinian people and their rights to independence and self-determination.

The press release mentioned "Operation Al-Aqsa Flood," which Hamas said was launched to protect Palestinians, detainees, and the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and to end what it considers Israeli aggression, siege, and occupation of Palestinian territories.

Hamas urged the US administration to reevaluate its stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and to reject what it saw as a double-standard policy favoring Israel.

The Palestinian resistance movement reaffirmed its confidence in the Palestinian people's right to protect their homeland and holy places, especially the Al-Aqsa Mosque, until their hopes for liberation, return, and the building of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital are realized.

The statement from Hamas comes at a time when tensions in the region are high, with hostilities between Palestinian factions and Israeli forces continuing and international efforts to negotiate a durable peace between the two parties stalled. The conflict remains a major concern in global geopolitics.
