Comelec releases the schedule for the 2025 elections
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has released the schedule of events, processes, and regulations for the midterm elections on May 12, 2025. On this day, Filipinos will vote for new members of Congress and local government officials, such as provincial governors, mayors, and councilors.
The Comelec en banc has designated the election period as January 12, 2025, to June 11, 2025, per Resolution No. 10999. During these 150 days, a nationwide firearms prohibition will be implemented.

Other restrictions during the election period include the suspension of elected local authorities, the hiring of security personnel by candidates, the illegal release of convicts, and the appointment, promotion, and creation of new positions in government agencies. Furthermore, the distribution and disbursement of public monies without a Comelec exemption are prohibited.
Key Dates and Regulations
The seven-month voter registration process concludes on September 30, 2024. Candidates must submit their certificates of candidacy between October 1st and October 8, 2024. During this time, party-list groups may also submit their nomination and acceptance certificates.

Comelec Chair George Garcia announced that substitutions for candidates who voluntarily withdraw after October 8 will no longer be accepted, a departure from prior policies that allowed for last-minute replacements. Substitutions will be permitted after October 8 if the candidate is disqualified or dies, and only until midday on Election Day.
The campaign cycle for national candidates, including those competing for Senate and party-list positions, will be from February 11 to May 10, 2025. Local candidates, including those seeking district representation in the House, will campaign between March 28 and May 10, 2025.

Filipinos overseas can vote from April 13 to May 12, 2025, while local absentee voting will take place from April 28 to 30, 2025. A booze prohibition will be implemented on May 11, the day before Election Day.

September 1–28, 2024: Period for organizing political conventions to select or nominate candidates.
June 11, 2025: Last day to file statements of contributions and expenditures
