Severe Tropical Storm Aghon Makes Landfall Over Patnanungan Island
Severe Tropical Storm Aghon made landfall on Patnanungan Island in Quezon on Sunday evening, increasing slightly, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

PAGASA announced around 8:00 p.m. that Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 3 had been issued over the Polillo Islands. This signal suggests that storm-force winds will have a moderate to significant impact on the area. Furthermore, severe rains surpassing 200 mm are expected in Quezon.

- Laguna
- Eastern portion of Batangas
- Eastern and central portions of Rizal
- Northern portion of Camarines Norte
TCWS Signal No. 1 covers:

- Eastern portion of Quirino
- Southern portion of Nueva Vizcaya
- Eastern portion of Nueva Ecija
- Eastern portion of Pampanga
- Bulacan
- Metro Manila
- Rest of Rizal
- Cavite
- Rest of Batangas
- Rest of Quezon
- Northeastern portion of Oriental Mindoro
- Marinduque
- Rest of Camarines Norte
- Northern portion of Camarines Sur
Within 36 hours, areas covered by TCWS No. 1 should expect severe winds ranging from 39 to 61 km/h, providing a minimum to a slight threat to life and property.
Current Conditions and Forecasts
Aghon is heading northwestward, with maximum sustained winds of 100 km/h around the center, gusts up to 150 km/h, and a central pressure of 990 hPa.
Coastal Water and Sea Conditions
PAGASA has issued a storm surge warning for the next 24 hours in exposed and low-lying coastal areas of Cagayan, Isabela, Central Luzon, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Mindoro Provinces, Marinduque, Romblon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Burias Island. The coastal seas of Aurora, Quezon, Marinduque, southern Batangas, and northern Camarines Norte are also under gale warnings. In certain places, sea travel is regarded as dangerous for small seacrafts, including motorboats of any size.
Aghon will also bring moderate to rough seas (1.5 to 3.5 meters) to Luzon's northern and eastern coasts, as well as the Bicol Region's coastline.
Track and intensity
Aghon is forecast to continue moving northeastward towards the Philippine Sea and could become a typhoon during the next 12 hours. From Monday through the forecast period, Aghon is expected to move northeastward while intensifying, potentially reaching typhoon status by Tuesday afternoon and leaving the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Wednesday.
